A journal is a scholarly publication containing articles written by researchers, academics and other experts. Journals focus on a specific discipline or field of study.
UKZN Library has a range of journals in print as well as online.
Many academic journals are not freely available via search facilities such as Google, libraries pay for access, thus you need to go to the Library's website to access journals.
Google Scholar is an international index to scholarly literature but does not have the rights to make full text freely available. If UKZN subscribes to an article, click on its title to get to the full text.
If you are working from off campus, you will need to authenticate yourself as a legitimate student or staff member by filling in your lan login details at the off campus link. Click on the link or find the off campus option under the Electronic Resources tab on the Libnrary's website.
The following are some of the e-journals available. An alphabetical list of all journals for which UKZN has some sort of electronic access can be found via the 'e- journals' option under the Electronic Resources tab on the library webpage.
Open Access (OA) is the practice of providing unrestricted access via the internet to peer reviewed scholarly journal articles.
Searching Google Scholar will highlight those articles that are freely accessible.
