What is referencing?

Referencing is a practice of acknowledging other peoples works, ideas, sources used in a paper, assignment, report and conference papers in academic writing.

Referencing can be done manually as well as electronically.  There are several electronic bibliographic management systems available which can assist you with painfree referencing.

EndNote is a powerful tool that can help you manage your research. EndNote is downloadable from the UKZN software library.The library offers training sessions in the use of Endnote.

EndNote

UKZN subscribes to the desktop EndNote package. EndNote enables the user to create a library of references which can be used with Word when creating a document and for creating bibliographies. A wide range of referencing styles are available on EndNote.

 

Open Access

Open Access (OA) is the practice of providing unrestricted access via the internet to peer reviewed scholarly journal articles.

Searching Google Scholar will highlight those articles that  are freely accessible.
