What is a journal?

A journal is a periodical dealing especially with matters of current interest on a particular subject.

Some of the journals are available in print as well as online version. In most cases print has been terminated in favour of online subscriptions. To local print journals:-

Scholarly or academic journals are important resources of doing academic research and assignment writing as they contain up-to-date, specific and often in-depth information. Peer reviewed journals contain articles that have been critiqued by scholars/experts in the same field to ensure that they reflect solid scholarship and high academic standards.

    What if journal is not available at UKZN Library?

    UKZN Library offers an Interlibrary loan (ILL) facility through which books and copies of journal articles can be borrowed from other libraries in the country if available. 

    The ILL office is located on the Ground floor of the EG Malherbe library. Forms are availalbe for filling in or email the relevant ILL office.

    On the national system SABINET, the collection SACat indicates what books are in which library in the country.
