Geology: Whats New!

Although the story of the origin of the moon has largely remained the same since the early 1980’s, particular details of its story are often changing from year to year. This is an amazing scientific feat considering that only about 380 kilograms of samples have been returned from the lunar surface. You might be surprised to find out that one of the largest sources for lunar discovery over the past 40 years has been the detailed study of pebble-sized meteorites! Join us as we delve into the challenges of reading the history of a celestial body from such a small number of samples and discover the role that meteorites have played in our understanding of the moon’s history.

Ever since his introduction to the ocean at the age of five, Professor Andrew Green has made it his life’s quest to spend as much time as possible in and around it. It was a natural choice to pursue a career in coastal and marine geology (NOT to be confused with marine biology – he doesn’t even eat fish). He holds an MSc degree in coastal geomorphology and a PhD in marine geology.
