Academic Reserves
Prescribed, recommended, and frequently used books are typically housed in the Academic Reserves (Short Loan) section, located on the ground floor of E. G. Malherbe Library. Materials in this section can only be borrowed for 2 hours and cannot be removed from the library during the day.
Book Renewal
Books may be renewed three (3) times including the initial due date. However, books that have been reserved by another user are not eligible for renewal. The Library reserves the right to shorten the normal loan period or recall materials before their due date if they are reserved or urgently needed by others. Items can be renewed in person at the Issue Desk, by phone, or online via My Library Account.
Inter-Campus
My Library Account enables you to request print books located at other UKZN campuses and have them delivered to your home campus.
Inter-Library Loan (ILL)
With My Library Account, you can request books and copies of journal articles from other libraries across the country, subject to availability.
